We revised the "Show my Trips" section on this website, the most interesting feature is probably that you can view (and share) your location "live" (well almost there is a few second delay) in Google Earth.
- Login with your email and your password.
- Click on "Show my trips"
- Click on "Show my current location in Google Earth"
- You will then download a KML file, which you can open in Google Earth. In Google Earth you can see the starting point of your trip and the last recorded position. While you use BindoGPS on the iPhone and move around your location will be updated in Google Earth.
- You can share this KML file with your friends, so they can see where you are.

What is Bindo?
Bindo is a GPS tracker that tracks your own location and transmits this to your friends who also run Bindo on their iPhone. So you can see where your friends are at this moment and also your friends can see where you are.
Of course only those friends who you authenticate can see your location.
Features:
- Several different Map Styles, depending on your need.
- Hiking/Biking Map with contour lines
- Street Maps
- Map data is cached, so if you go to the same place again, no need to download the maps again from the internet. You can also use this to download the map data via WiFi (e.g. at home or your hotel). Just pan over the area where you plan to go. Once you are out you can use these maps even without any internet connection.
- Waypoints
- You can add picture to your waypoint
- Design the waypoint marker, to mark a camp site, bus stop, car etc.
- Send the waypoint to your friends, who can import this incl. picture.
Of course you don't need to quit Bindo for this.
- Trips
- All your trips are recorded on the iPhone
- You can send an entire trip to your friends, who might use it as reference for their own journey.
- Colors and line strength of the trips can be indivodually adjusted.
- Messages
- You can send instant messages to your friends without leaving the App.
- Website
- On the corresponding Bindo website (soon to be launched) you can look at your trips, show them on Google Maps, export them to Google Earth (KML) or as GPX file.
Who needs Bindo?
Bindo can be used by many persons
- Hikers, Bikers can track their locations to make sure nobody gets lots
- Families who want to share their locations
- Companies who need to track the locations or their drivers, repair-crew etc.

We just made the first version of our trip editor available. Just click on "Show my trips" and you are there.
You can also try this if you haven't used BindoGPS yet, we'll show you a demo trip, but you can't edit it.
First of all it shows all the recorded locations of a trip incl. Date, Time and Speed. When you hover with the mouse over one location it will be shown in the map.
The iPhone and therefore also BindoGPS unfortunately get the location sometimes wrong, they usually appear as big jumps on a trip. Now you can delete these wrong points to easily create a nice trip, that you can download as a KML file and share with your friends if you like.
Just click on"Delete Point" and it will be marked for deletion. You can still undelete it, but once you click on "Save changes and refresh the map" these point will be gone forever.

BindoGPS V1.1 has been approved by Apple, and should be live in the App Store very soon. Here are some notes about the update:
- Min.Accuracy
In the default setting BindoGPS V1.0 used any location the iPhone reported, though this can be very inaccurate. V1.1 now has a different default setting, it requires that the accuracy the iPhone reports must be 400m or better. This shouldn't be a problem, when you have a GPS reception. But if you are indoor and the iPhone can only use Cell/WiFi triangulation it might not find your location. You can change the default setting in the Settings.app of the iPhone.
- Push Notifications
In order to use Push Notifications you and your friend must have installed BindoGPS V1.1 , must have started it at least once and must confirm the that BindoGPS can send Push notifications. Push notifications are send when
- you tap on the name of your friend on the "Friends" tab.
- you send a message
- you send a friend request
Here is more info about the BindoGPS V1.1 update. |

BindoGPS has been downloaded quite a few times and entered the Top100 for Navigation Apps in many countries. We will keep on improving BindoGPS and this website. BindoGPS V1.1 is currently with Apple for review. We hope it will be available soon as it has some great new features.
So what are we working on:
We will mainly improve the BindoGPS website, here are the features that will be coming:
- KML export, ie. view your trips in Google Earth.
- Location filter for Google Maps/Earth.
You might have noticed that your location sometimes jumps around, often the iPhone lost the GPS signal and uses Cell/WiFi Triangulation which can be very inaccurate (the worst I saw was 8 34km off). Soon you can go to this website and adjust some filters so that you can get a nice and clean view of your trip In a later version of BindoGPS you might also be able to replace the trip on the iPhone by this "cleaned" version.
- Live (or almost live) view of your current location in Google Earth and Google Maps.
- GPX export
- KML, GPX import
Otherwise we will fix some bugs in BindoGPS that we notice.
If you have any suggestions, feedback is always welcome. |
